The Beef Shorthorn Society annual event has now been confirmed to be hosted by James Porter of the Uppermill Herd. Gill Hall, Lurgan Road, Dromore, Lisburn, BT0 0AB. New and Young Members of the society are invited to attend the workshop day on the Saturday 12th August, starting at 9.00 am.
Workshops include clipping, stock judging/classifying/breed type and Ring Craft . Discussions on EBV's/Health Status/breed genetics and any other topics members wish to raise will be addressed and hopefully questions answered. Rounding down activities will be a whole group stock judging session. To wind down the day a farm tour of Gill Hall followed by the days finale, a social meal hosted by Uppermill and the announcement of the lucky winners of 4 embryos donated by Martyn Moore and Tommy Staunton.
Next morning we are invited on a farm visit to Glenarm Estate on the Sunday from 9.30 am. Meeting at Antrim Estates Co, Estate Office, 2 Castle Lane, BT440BQ. Starting with a presentation from Orla Kelly winner of the Beef Student of the Year Award and then the farm tour by Bryan Wilson. The day will finish at lunchtime and those wishing to can head for the Tea Room to grab some lunch before heading home.
